P.O.R.A.'s Services

We offer many different services to the women that stay at P.O.R.A as well as the surrounding community.

MONDAY

Food Pantry 1-3 pm

Food Pantry

During this time people may come to receive 3 meals worth of commodities for their household. Each person may only come once every 30 days. IDs will not be checked. Food that we usually keep in stock includes canned vegetables, fruits, soups, etc., cereals/oatmeal, peanut butter, pudding, pasta, noodles, and more. We usually have some meat, also. Let us know if there is something else that you would like to see at our food pantry!

Youth Detention Center

A P.O.R.A. staff member runs an hour long group meeting from 5 to 6 pm at the Youth Detention Center in Springfield.

TUESDAY

Healthy Relationships

Every other Tuesday night from 6 to 7 pm there is a Healthy Relationship group at P.O.R.A. Space is limited, so if you would like to come to this meeting call and reserve a spot by Monday.

Helping Hands Shelter

Every Tuesday at 7 pm a P.O.R.A. staff member runs a group at the Helping Hands Homeless Shelter on various life skills areas and other topics.

WEDNESDAY

Phoenix Center

Every Wednesday from 7 to 8 pm a group meeting is held at the Phoenix Center.

THURSDAY

Open AA Meeting for Women

Every Thursday night an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is held at P.O.R.A. The meeting starts at 6 and goes until 7pm. This meeting is only for women. Coffee is served at the meeting.

FRIDAY

Sangamon County Jail AA

Every Friday from 7 to 8:30 pm an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is held at the Sangamon County Jail.

24 HOURS A DAY

7 DAYS A WEEK

Food Pantry

Condoms are available for pickup at any time of the day.

Emergency food, referrals, and supplies for healthy living.
